Francesca

Director of Teaching & Learning

Graduating in 1994 with a BA (Hons) in French and Italian and then completing a PGCE, I have been fortunate to have had a very varied teaching career. In only my second year of teaching French and Italian in a very demanding inner city London secondary school I was promoted to head of department. I then established a very successful private business teaching languages in the local nurseries and primary schools. This eventually led me back into the classroom of a very high achieving grammar school with Language College status where I held a number of teaching roles over the 15 years I was there, including; Primary Languages Coordinator, Teaching and Learning Mentor, CILT regional trainer and finally AST for the London Borough of Barnet.

My vast teaching experience across the key stages and in very different settings has allowed me to experience the language learning journey of a wide variety fo learners from nursery aged children learning two languages simultaneously as bilingual learners to adults learning a second language (with various levels of difficulty!) for the first time and everything in between.

As one of the directors of Language Angels this has been my most important and impactful work to date. I have worked with many thousands of teachers using the Language Angels platform over the years, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge they require to successfully teach their classes a foreign language.Training the adults in the class is just as important as teaching the children.

We can make change happen.

Teaching & Learning Lead - French

I have been working for Language Angels for the past 3 years as their teaching and learning lead but I have been teaching French, Spanish and English as a foreign language form babies, all the way to adults, for the last 20 years.

My experience has taken me from teaching in secondary schools to coordinating language classes across a range of primary schools in England and in Abu Dhabi where I also had a business teaching languages to EYFS and KS1 pupils.

I have many years of real classroom experience and knowledge of teaching foreign languages to pupils at primary phase.
